FAQs.

What sessions will there be?

We really have no idea just yet!  Edcamps are about the interests of the people in attendance and our goal is to host educational technology related sessions that are of interest to you, the participants.  During the first hour we will build a schedule together that will meet your needs.  Want to facilitate a session? Slap a sticky note on the board and then move out of the way!  A really good Edcamp session will involve everyone and allow for real conversations!

What if the session I choose isn't working for me?

It certainly happens!  Maybe the conversation isn't going the way you planned or you misunderstood the session.  Maybe you are having a great side conversation that you want to take to the hallway.  Get moving!  It's not rude to leave the room during an Edcamp.  The "rule of two feet" will guide us and it empowers participants to find sessions that best meet their needs. If a session isn't working for you, you are encouraged to find one that will!

Who will be the presenters?

Sessions are facilitated by anyone. Participants with experience are encouraged to speak up during sessions. Open dialogue and a willingness to share, not planned presentations, drive the learning at Edcamps.  Everyone is welcome to propose and lead a session where conversation and collaboration are paramount. The day is completely participant-driven.  You do not need to present when you attend an Edcamp. However, anyone with a good  idea is encouraged to lead a conversation. Edcamp is all about learning and sharing. You are welcome to propose a session where you are the expert or to propose a session where you are the one with questions or concerns. Sometimes the best learning is born of informal conversation.

Do I have to be a techie?

Absolutely not! Edcamps are for everyone who wants to learn and share, even when the focus of the ed camp is educational technology. You’ll see most educators at Edcamps using some kind of device to take collaborative notes, tweet about the experience and on occasion, share via live video. This is not a requirement…...just a reflection of the times.  The ed tech focus of this Edcamp is meant to appeal to all - from integration novices to integration experts and everyone in between.

What should I bring?

Bring your excitement for learning and a willingness to collaborate. Like any conference, you should come prepared to take notes in any fashion you like. There will be free WiFi access, so you can bring mobile devices or laptops though paper and a pencil will also work just fine. A light breakfast and boxed lunches will be provided.  Bring anything you would like to make your day meaningful.

What's the smackdown?

It's a fast-paced opportunity for sharing. People volunteer to share a tech tool, teaching tip, book recommendation, or anything else they'd like to share with the group about dynamic teaching and learning. You come to the front of the room, give a quick 1-2 minute pitch, share any pertinent information (URL's, titles, etc), and then it is added to a shared document that you can reference later. You'll leave with a ton of information and great tips!
